T-Tops aren’t just for muscle cars -They’re for fly fishing, too.

T-Tops aren’t just for muscle cars

They’re for fly fishing, too.

Jason Carstens fishes for salmon, whitefish, perch, smallmouth bass, splake, and lake trout for his own True North Guide service from Lake Huron, to the St. Mary’s River, and all the way to Lake Superior.  Since 2017, he’s been chasing these fish hard whether he’s trolling, fly fishing, or jigging and loves every rod-bending minute of it.

“I’ve been guiding since 2017,” he said.  “I have owned many different brands of boats from Sea Ray to Lund, and G3 and my Angler Qwest…has topped them all.”

Any guide knows that more space on a boat doesn’t just mean more comfort, it can also mean more clients per trip, which means bigger paychecks.  With $5 per gallon gas, that means more now, than ever before.

“I also wanted to fish bigger waters,” Carstens said. “I currently run a 2020 Angler Qwest Pro Fish.  It’s a 22 footer but has a unique T-Top. It is important for me to run the T-Top option to maximize my casting platform and clearance for the fly fishing.”

Carstens has been fishing as long as he can remember, learning from his mother and grandfather, and guiding since 2017. During that time, he has had a lot of people notice his custom-like toon, one that works as well for trolling spoons as it does for customers slinging a dry fly.

“I get stopped all the time at boat launches or out on the water with people asking questions about the boat,” he said. “It’s the package as a whole: stability, room, and fishability. Those are the biggest selling

points of this boat for me.”
